Default Oxxo on the north end

There's a new Oxxo that just opened yesterday on the north end, on the corner of 10th Avenue and Calle 26. It's in the same building as Las Palmas condos, right next door to El Asador, in the location that used to be Pacsadeli. Hopefully it won't put the Xaman Ha minisuper (across from the hotel) out of business!

Unbelievable... Oxxo is becoming like Starbucks was in the states. Seems that they put them EVERYWHERE. A friend of mine joked that they just opened up a new Starbucks in the bathroom of an existing Starbucks.

So far, Oxxo has the lead... about 10 to 3 in between Jaurez Ave. and Calle 38. Oh, just realized I've been gone for 12 days, there might be a new Starbucks by now for all I know!

And, I do fear for the mini-supers. They still get my business whenever possible.

Her name is Tanya and she is a doll. She was also patient with us when we first got here, helping us with spanish, figuring out the money and doing small favors for us.

At night the store is handled by Marcelino, also friendly and helpful.

Nice people.

We've always said it to rhyme with BOXO or FOXO or SOXO .

As in ... you can eat green eggs and ham with a foxo, in your soxo or in a boxo. We crack ourselves up!

BTW, good to "see" you Tim!

You're probably right - that would be the correct pronunciation for Spanish. The gringo version would rhyme with BOXO!

You could always call it "hugs & kisses" if you want, but if you asked a local for directions to the local "Abrazos y Besos" tienda, they'd surely look at you like you were loco.

We love that little tienda.
We are really going to miss the 'hood' this time around.

The minisuper across from the hotel is a GODSEND...I stumbled in there a few times for a Coca Cola and a bag of chips after wasting the evening away at the Beer Bucket.
