Default HC Steak Place

As we were leaving Playa on Tuesday 3/11 via ADO we could see a fire truck near HC Carnes Monterey. There also looked like "tape" around the area. Did they have a fire?

We are heading out that way now. We will check the status and leave an update later tonight.

Do you mean the one on Constituyentes? We ate at El Fogon right next door last night, and HC looked just fine.

The original HC Carnes de Monterrey (formerly on Calle 1 Sur) has moved to the new location on Constituyentes (close to where we live....yea!!) The other location is on C.T.M. between 10th and 15th Streets.

We walked by HC on Constituyentes and it looked just fine. The ADO bus that goes to the Cancun airport does go past this HC, so I imagine this is the one summit167 is talking about.

We were told by the people at HC Monterey on Constituyentes that CH Monterey (on Calle 1 Sur) is owned by someone else and that those owners are trying to make it exactly like the original one, which it appears they are doing, as people say the food is good there.

It wouldn't be hard to be exactly like the original since nothing has changed except for painting over the signed walls and it is the exact same meat - they buy from the same source (or perhaps CH buys from HC) I like it.

I'm always wary when ownership of a place changes, but it's good to hear they haven't changed anything.

Thanks for the info Babs.

We went to the one on Constituyentes and were not disappointed in the food and the service was top notch. We were a large group of 14 eating there that evening. They went out of their way to please everyone.

Only one person in our group decided to order a strip loin or surloin and didn't find it quite up to par. He should have ordered the Arrachera National! Dam* it! LOL

that is good news! It was HC Monterey on Constituyentes. We ate there and it was fantastic. The night before we went to HC's across from Mega we tried to find the one on CTM since we were staying on Calle 40 at Meridian Condos. We never did find it and the neighborhoods were getting pretty sketchy. We were not disappointed in the Arrachera National. A couple nights later we ate at El Fargon, trouble reading the menu, I could recognize the steak, and whatever my husband ordered we still do not know! HC's steak was much better. Thanks for checking back.....
