Default friends/family

Hi. I need help/opinions.

Okay, sure I live here but I tend to eat at either really local spots or at home. I have friends/family who are here for the first time. And I want to take them somewhere cool/fun/interesting for their first night. We'll make it to Dona Marys and HC and El Fogon....but I think they need something a little more 'what American's think is Mexico' the first night. Does that make sense???

I was thinking
Carboncitos or la Pesca or la Parilla (touristy yes... but a good introduction to Playa).

I hate picking restaurants for people. Especially this group of 9 which includes two kids. I have foodies and drunks and foodies who drink.

Any thoughts??? All help/suggestions appreciated.

La Parilla for sure. They do quite well with larger groups. Then stroll/bar crawl down 5th. The more adventuresome locations can follow later, once they are broken in a bit.

I agree on La Parilla. I don't think their food is very good (although their arrachera is excellent), but it's a fun place for visitors. And a guy walks around with huge sombreros, puts them on everyone's head and takes a picture which he'll come & sell to you in a schmaltzy but fun frame (or on a bottle of tequila). Believe it or not, the photos always look really good; I don't know how he does it. We actually own two of these photos! It's a fun time for visitors.

Oh, and if you have a VIP Smart Card, you get a 15% discount at La Parilla.

So what are the "adventuresome" places to go too? For someone that likes seafood.

Thanks,
Gabe
