It can get pretty empty here in the Summer. I would totally agree with Michelle in the winter, but in the summer it really tends to empty out. Maybe it just seems that way to me because we're so inundated in the winter.
To the OP, if Rick and his pimpmobile (I can't help it, Rick

) aren't around, come down to the jungle row and look for the palapa numbered 155 (that isn't our real number but it is the number on the palapa). We'll give you a ride. The office is frequently calling taxis for folks but I have heard folks complaining that they didn't get their taxi. Another option is to take a colectivo. I just took one to Chedraui to do some shopping (20 pesos to town). It should be pretty easy to flag a taxi down at the highway though and bring him into the park to pick up your folks. If you ask someone at the guard shack to call a taxi for you, please understand that they will be using their own personal phone.
Sundays are really crowded here and you should have no problem getting a ride back to town with someone.
For snorkeling, head over towards the south end of the beach and snorkel out from there. Dean hit us pretty hard but I personally think the snorkeling is much better from the south end than straight from the restaurant. I once saw 8 squid in our bay. I've never snorkeled Jan Ten (have you, Rick?) because of the huge amount of sand, but I have seen folks leave from the military pointish and cross the bay that way. I think it might be nice snorkeling that way. BTW, Jan Ten is the deserted beach. PaaMul is not. Legally, I'm not sure anyone other than PaaMul residents are supposed to go to Jan Ten (since Pepe has permission from the owner for us to go) but I doubt anyone really cares.
If you're really really worried about getting stuck and are dying to come down here (i differ with Susie and Rick and find the restaurant incredibly overpriced and horribly bland (except for the chocolate cake)), give me a shout the week before you come down and I'll make sure we're available to play back-up taxi.
