Took us an hour and 20 minutes from the arch to the town. Road needs to be graded again but I don't see that happening until after hurricane season. Very south, close to PA you can see lots of salt damage to the palms from Hurricane Dean (i assume as it wasn't there before Dean). We left at a normal time for us (noon from PaaMul) but I would really advise an earlier start.
I was astounded at all the eating fish very very close to shore.Photoset from today is at Flickr: Mamahops' Photostream And taking a page from Michelle, I wrote it up Hell’s Half Acre In which the children are NOT eaten by a shark Last edited by jamnkats; 06-09-2008 at 10:59 AM. |

That is very sweet Michelle. I've come to the realization that you cannot take a bad photo down here. The colors are amazing. I used a simple P&S that I bought at Sam's in 2005 for many years and last fall upgraded (to a fancier P&S). One day I'll be able to justify the expense of a DSLR but not yet. My camera fits quite easily in my hand and I'd hate to give that up for the bulk of a DSLR but I'd LOVE to get real bokeh some day (the blurry dot-like background with a good DOF shot).

Sorry about that Michelle. A P&S is a point&shoot - pretty much your garden variety camera. That is pretty much what I have except I have built in zoom and video capability on my S2 IS (Canon). A DSLR is a digital SLR and that's all I know about that. My definition would be "fancy-pants" camera.
DOF is depth-of-field - where, to my definition, the stuff in the foreground is sharp and the stuff in the background (which is not far away) is blurry. I'm sure a real photog would have much better definitions.

Any special settings you use? I am in the market for a new P&S (see how fast I pick things up) and am looking for recommendations. I currently use an Casio Exilim with 10.1 mega pixels and 3x optical zoom. I has suited me well but I would like something a bit better. Maybe I just need a better person using the camera.

Thought I'd get a little technical on you there. So I like it for the zoom capability, the ability to shoot video and, well, I guess that's it. I use the portrait mode (to try and get bokeh), I can NEVER get macro to work without fuzzing up the picture, I also use the P mode and have it pre-set to some settings I don't remember anymore and I use the Foliage mode and Indoor modes a lot too.
