Taxi Prices

Hi Everyone,

I have a few questions about taxi prices.

But first let me explain my situation.

I went onto Dolphin Discovery's live chat to book a dolphin swim this evening...I swam there last year and loved it so Im returning with my father this year....So...they offer free shuttle to the swimmers...their location is in Puerto Aventuras incase you didnt know...which Im sure you locals do...but anyways....My mom and husband were planning on coming along with us to take pictures during the swim, go shopping, etc. So...the woman there told me she could book them the shuttle with us for $10 per person. I asked her if a taxi would be cheaper...and she said that she would call some place and find out. She returned a few mins later and told me that a taxi from Aventura Spa Palace to Puerto Aventuras (which is like 5 mins distance)...would be $10 per person each way. Thats $40 for 2 people to take a taxi 5 mins away. Now, I know some people have taken a taxi for $16 to Playa Del Carmen from Aventura Spa Palace...which is further away than PA...so...Im confused. What is with the Per Person charge? Arent Taxis usually a flat fee? Or are things different there in Mexico?

Can anyone tell me approx how much a taxi from Aventura Spa would be to Puerto Aventuras?

Also...from Aventura Spa to Playa Del Carmen....

And Aventura Spa to Paamul?

What about from Aventura Spa to Cancun?

Just a few places we are considering and wondering what the cost of taxi would be. My main wonder is the cost of taxi to PA since I want to book the shuttle if that is cheaper.

the taxis charge per load...up to 4 people per taxi - not by the person
I wouldn't pay more than $5 + tip to go from ASP to Puerto or ASP to Paamul and that is being very generous.
Interesting that the published rate from Playa to ASP and Playa to Puerto is the same....so you see that it should be cheap.
ASP to Playa should be about $14-$15
To Cancun...about $55 i would guess

In January this year (2008) it cost us $19US from ASP to Playacar Palace for 2 people and $45US from ASP to Moon Palace for 2 people.
I truthfully can't remember what the cost from ASP to Puerto Aventuras was.
I do know that I would definitely NOT pay $10 per person from ASP to Puerto Aventuras.
I was going to take a picture this year of the chart that ASP has posted outside of the lobby for the taxi fares to various places.
But I forgot
Guess I was in vacation mode for those 14 days. Sorry.
