For probably less than the cost of renting such equipment for 9 days, I'd recommended buying a cheap boogieboard at Walmart and giving it to some locals when you leave. You could also do the same with snorkel equipment. Or, if you want some good quality equipment that you can use on your next trip (especially a mask), you might want to buy something a little better at a scuba store, and just keep it for next time.

So much easier to buy your own like T&C said we do that and then make it a point of giving it to some local kids on the beach just before we come home. It is such a pleasure to see the smile on their faces and I know for alot of these kids owning some of this stuff may never happen. Enjoy your vacation.

Boogie boards were 130 pesos at Mega yesterday. There was a huge display around by electronics. I suspect they have inventory for awhile. A reasonable mask and snorkel kit can be had for about 300 pesos. If you're looking for something better, Dive Mike on 8th carries a nice inventory of equipment.

If you would still like to rent a snorkel and mask, try the Tank-ka dive shop on 5th between calle 8 and 10. Real nice folks there.

Tank-ha Dive shop has moved to a new location on Calle 10 between 5th & 10th Avenue right next to La Rana.

Thanks Libby....They were still at the old location in March 08. Now I won't freak out when I return.

We just bring our own mask and snorkel. If your going off shore snorkeling you can rent fins for about 50 pesos. For the cenotes you don't really need fins.

Always bring my own after a first time experience with a very ill-fitting mask.
Just make it my carry-on item and no problem. Boogie boards I know knothing about, sorry.
