We are really looking forward to our first trip to Playa del Carmen starting 2 weeks from today. We are still undecided on what excursions and locations we want to visit. There are so many to pick from. Is there any advantage to buying tickets online before we come or should we just wait until we get there? We know we want to visit Xel Ha. Shouuld we book those online or wait? Thanks in advance for any helpful advice you might provide.

This site offers "tours"...look at the top under the blue heading. I like to plan ahead, otherwise, I get down there and find myself just beaching it and regret it later...there is too much to see!

Kelly, ticket prices won't vary much whether you purchase them now or when you arrive. However, you should consider how you want to get to and from your activities. If you are planning on taking a colectivo, a cab, or rental car, you do not have to buy it before you plan on going. However, if you are planning on going with a tour group, you will need to arrange it ahead of time to make sure that transportation can be arranged.
As far as Xel-Ha goes... I'd wait until you are here and can take advantage of the weather forecast. Xel-Ha is a big place and they are unlikely to be sold out, especially now during the low season. Make sure to bring your biodegradable sunscreen! ¡Buen viaje! |

With Xel-Ha and Xcaret, you can save 10% by purchasing your tickets through their website at least 3 days in advance.
Purchasing your tour tickets ahead of time allows you to research the tour, and not be stuck with whatever your concierge recommends. Tour companies are not all equal. If you prefer small tours with lots of personal attention, I recommend Yucatreks Tours and Manzano's Expeditions. You do pay a price for that attention though. Should you wish to save some dough, check out the Riviera Maya tours we offer on this website. By booking through us, you'll have the full support of In The Roo and Solatino Tours if you have any problems or questions. Whatever you do, have a great time! |
