Si... Las Ruinas. There is a beach at the ruins site, however, once you get past the Tulum ruins you will be able to walk on the most beautiful beach outlined by cabanas here and there. Then you will come to a beach club called Playa Paraiso. Spend a couple of hours there if you like. There is a restaurant on site. There are taxis waiting (at the entrance of Playa Paraiso) ready to take you to Tulum Pueblo (Town) for about 45-50 pesos ($5 U.S. approx) when you are ready to head back home. Tell the driver to bring you to "a collectivos, por favor" or to the Bus Station if you would prefer to take the bus back to Playa.
Have a great time!

We took the ADO bus there. It was $8.00 it stopped at xcaret and xel ha. We took the colectivo back for $2.00 much quicker.
You can catch the colectivo heading to Tulum at 2oth and Juarez. We also took the Colectivo to Akumal Beach. The snorkeling was AMAZING. Many turtles, rays, barracuda, many other fish. |

The ruins are north of the puebla and also north of the beach access road. The town is about 3K from the beaches, too far to walk on a hot day. You can walk to Paraiso from the ruins, as Babaloo said above.

Silly question, but do you walk from las ruinas to playa paraiso via the beach right there at the ruins or do you walk it along the road? Is it clearly marked. We are a bit directionally challenged. Thanks!!

You'll pass a couple of driveways with a chain across them and signs designating the property as private. Roughly a mile down the road, there'll be an open driveway for Zacil Kin. I'd enter the beach there! They have a great little beach bar where you can get a cold beer but no food. Half mile further south is another small beach bar that's part of Mar Caribe. They only serve drinks. Don Cafeto has an excellent restaurant about 100 yards inland from there. Just ask at the bar and they'll point you in the right direction. Another half mile further south and you'll come across El Paraiso Beach Club. Here, you'll find a full bar and restaurant right on the beach. There are loungers, chairs and anything else you'd want for enjoying one of the best spots on this stretch of beach. At the end of the day, you can walk to the rear of their property (towards the roadway) and find taxi's waiting to take you into the town of Tulum (Tulum Pueblo). Generally, I have them deposit me at the ADO Bus Station and take a bus back to Playa del Carmen. Alternately, the taxi driver can take you to the ADO Bus Kiosk near the Tulum ruins. Taxi cost is the same to either location. The cost for an air conditioned bus back to Playa is under $4. Jimmy |

The ADO bus is a Greyhoud like bus that goes driectly from the downtown bus station at 5th & Juarez to the archaeological zone bus station at Tulum. It cost us $4.20 per person and made quick stops at Xcaret and Xel-Ha. It took maybe 75-80 minutes door to door. Once you arrive in Tulum, you can go into the bus station and purchase your return tickets. I believe the lat 3 bus times were 5:10, 5:40 & 6:00, but there was a man from teh ADO bus company t |
