Banzoomba and I are coming back to Playadise in March....can't get here fast enough
...and every year we do a day trip to Tulum with stops at El Paraiso and Zamas and last year we did La Vita e Bella for lunch and then lounged on the beach all day.So this year I want to travel a little further south and explore something new...so any suggestions on a particular beach or restaurant that we should check out? Thanks for the input everyone.

A little over a year ago I was doing research for Perry and Laura (Mapchick) and ate at Sol Caribe, in Sian Kaan, I thought it was the nicest place to stay with very very good food and clean confortable rooms.
It is far away from everything so there is not a lot to do around there but flyfish or just enjoy the almost private place. The road is bumpy and long but if you combine that with a visit to Punta Allen it would be adventurous allright For other hotels in Tulum I agree that Ana Y Jose has a very good restaurant and for lodging I like CabaƱas Tulum if Im in a low budget or Zahra and definately Azulik for a romantic getaway the wooden tubs outside in the terrace are the best I love that place I can pm you some pics. Enjoy your trip!!! |

Thanks Maureen and Claudia.
![]() And yes Claudia I would love to see your pics. The wooden tubs sound awesome! The more remote and rustic the better.

If you want to try something new...
...take the bus or colectivo into Tulum pueblo and catch a taxi to La Zebra (about $5-$6) and hang out there for awhile. Time it for lunch and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the food and the atmosphere. It's a nice relaxing place to hang out. On Sundays, they have an all day BBQ with live salsa music and a beach party beginning at 7pm and lasting til 11pm. If you walk north of La Zebra, Ana & Jose's is another great stop to grab a drink or get something to eat. They have a number of loungers on the beach that should be free while consuming beverages. By the way, they only serve canned beer on the beach or deck. Be sure to check out their entire facility... it's beautiful! Few doors north is a new bar/restaurant that should now be open. The owners told me it would be called Puerto Cielo. They have a tiny pool lounge area close to the beach nestled in the palms. You can't actually see the pool from the beach because it's on higher ground but you should be able to see people sitting around it. The place wasn't open yet when I was there but the owners gave me the grand tour... it's also a small hotel. Jimmy |

We just got a 3 page welcome letter in the mail from Xamach. It explains our stay, what we need to bring and asks us to let them know what our of preferences for food and beverages are so that they can customize our stay......
VERY COOL.
