For Tony, To Much of Nothing, with The Band...
Now, too much of nothing Can make a man feel ill at ease. One man's temper might rise While another man's temper might freeze. In the day of confession We cannot mock a soul. Oh, when there's too much of nothing, No one has control. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion Too much of nothing Can make a man abuse a king. He can walk the streets and boast like most But he wouldn't know a thing. Now, it's all been done before, It's all been written in the book, But when there's too much of nothing, Nobody should look. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion Too much of nothing Can turn a man into a liar, It can cause one man to sleep on nails And another man to eat fire. Ev'rybody's doin' somethin', I heard it in a dream, But when there's too much of nothing, It just makes a fella mean. Say hello to Valerie Say hello to Vivian Send them all my salary On the waters of oblivion peace |

I Shall Be Released ~ Bob Dylan
They say everything can be replaced, Yet every distance is not near. So I remember every face Of ev'ry man who put me here. I see my light come shining From the west unto the east. Any day now, any day now, I shall be released. They say every man needs protection, They say every man must fall. Yet I swear I see my reflection Some place so high above this wall. I see my light come shining From the west unto the east. Any day now, any day now, I shall be released. Standing next to me in this lonely crowd, Is a man who swears he's not to blame. All day long I hear him shout so loud, Crying out that he was framed. I see my light come shining From the west unto the east. Any day now, any day now, I shall be released. By the way Cos' did I ever mention that the very first guest ever to check into the Luna Blue was D.A. Pennebaker? Papa T

Too cool, I love Don't Look Back, a classic for sure... ![]() Don't Think Twice, it's Alright It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe It don't matter, anyhow An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe If you don't know by now When your rooster crows at the break of dawn Look out your window and I'll be gone You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on Don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe That light I never knowed An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe I'm on the dark side of the road Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say To try and make me change my mind and stay We never did too much talkin' anyway So don't think twice, it's all right It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal Like you never did before It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal I can't hear you any more I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' all the way down the road I once loved a woman, a child I'm told I give her my heart but she wanted my soul But don't think twice, it's all right I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe Where I'm bound, I can't tell But goodbye's too good a word, gal So I'll just say fare thee well I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind You could have done better but I don't mind You just kinda wasted my precious time But don't think twice, it's all right |

The New Mister Me ~ Kris Kristofferson
The moment that you saw him You just looked the other way. The blood within his eye Was like a curse. He had two heavy pistols Which were greasied up and ready And a face like Bobby Dylan, only worse. He ordered up a whisky, which he drank like he was thirsty And ordered him another of the same. Suddenly the silence of the frozen room was shattered By a kid who shot before he called his name. He looked up at his killer from the floor where he had fallen Saying, well look what you have gone and done to me. He said, son, I think you blew it But you're truly welcome to it. You can be the new mister me. You can be the new mister me, me, me Ain't it true that's what you want to be. And I'll be somewhere sunny where it's funny and it's free And you can be the new mister me. Well I was there the day they say that Bobby Dylan died. You and I both know he got away. He's out there stealin' horses Really learnin' how to ride And he's the reason I am free today. Singin' you can be the new mister me, me, me Ain't it true that's what you wanna be, yes indeed And I'll be somewhere sunny where it's funny and it's free And you can be the new mister me.

Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues ~ Bob Dylan
When you're lost in the rain in Juarez And it's Eastertime too And your gravity fails And negativity don't pull you through Don't put on any airs When you're down on Rue Morgue Avenue They got some hungry women there And they really make a mess outa you Now if you see Saint Annie Please tell her thanks a lot I cannot move My fingers are all in a knot I don't have the strength To get up and take another shot And my best friend, my doctor Won't even say what it is I've got Sweet Melinda The peasants call her the goddess of gloom She speaks good English And she invites you up into her room And you're so kind And careful not to go to her too soon And she takes your voice And leaves you howling at the moon Up on Housing Project Hill It's either fortune or fame You must pick up one or the other Though neither of them are to be what they claim If you're lookin' to get silly You better go back to from where you came Because the cops don't need you And man they expect the same Now all the authorities They just stand around and boast How they blackmailed the sergeant-at-arms Into leaving his post And picking up an Angel who Just arrived here from the coast Who looked so fine at first But left looking just like a ghost I started out on burgundy But soon hit the harder stuff Everybody said they'd stand behind me When the game got rough But the joke was on me There was nobody even there to call my bluff I'm going back to New York City I do believe I've had enough Good night. ...I do believe I've had enough
Night guys, sweet dreams, get help with that bite...![]() She was the rose of Sharon from paradise lost From the city of seven hills near the place of the cross. I was playing a show in Miami in the theater of divine comedy. Told about Jesus, told about the rain, She told me about the jungle where her brothers were slain By a man who danced on the roof of the embassy. Was she a child or a woman, I can't say which From one to another she could to easily switch We went into the wall to where the long arm of the law could not reach. Could I been used and played as a pawn? It certainly was possible as the gay night wore on Where men bathed in perfume and celebrated free speech. And them Caribbean winds still blow from Nassau to Mexico Fanning the flames in the furnace of desire And them distant ships of liberty on them iron waves so bold and free, Bringing everything that's near to me nearer to the fire. She looked into my soul through the clothes that I wore She said, "We got a mutual friend over by the door, And you know he's got our best interest in mind." He was well connected but her heart was a snare And she had left him to die in there, There were payments due and he was a little behind. The cry of the peacock, flies buzz my head, Ceiling fan broken, there's a heat in my bed, Street band playing "Nearer My God to Thee." We met at the steeple where the mission bells ring, She said, "I know what you're thinking, but there ain't a thing You can do about it, so let us just agree to agree." And them Caribbean winds still blow from Nassau to Mexico Fanning the flames in the furnace of desire And them distant ships of liberty on them iron waves so bold and free, Bringing everything that's near to me nearer to the fire. Atlantic City by the cold grey sea I hear a voice crying, "Daddy," I always think it's for me, But it's only the silence in the buttermilk hills that call. Every new messenger brings evil report 'Bout armies on the march and time that is short And famines and earthquakes and hatred written upon walls. Would I have married her? I don't know, I suppose. She had bells in her braids and they hung to her toes But I kept hearing my name and I had to be movin' on. I saw screws break loose, saw the devil pound tin, I saw a house in the country being torn from within. I heard my ancestors calling from the land far beyond. And them Caribbean winds still blow from Nassau to Mexico Fanning the flames in the furnace of desire And them distant ships of liberty on them iron waves so bold and free, Bringing everything that's near to me nearer to the fire. peace Last edited by Cosmo; 05-22-2008 at 01:14 AM. Little Bobby Dylan turns 67 today. In his lifetime he has created or influenced most forms of popular music and has become a cultural icon. Yes, his nasal singing voice; stiff, unfriendly stage presence; and complex, often confusing lyrics have made him inaccessable and unpopular with a lot of folks. Yet his work has always created the cutting edge that other more popular artists admit they follow. And, he produced one of the three most influencial records in rock history (Blonde on Blonde). Still writing, still performing, still making it count. True genius. Happy Birthday Mr. Zimmerman.
My Back Pages ~ Bob Dylan Crimson flames tied through my ears Rollin' high and mighty traps Pounced with fire on flaming roads Using ideas as my maps "We'll meet on edges, soon," said I Proud 'neath heated brow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Half-wracked prejudice leaped forth "Rip down all hate," I screamed Lies that life is black and white Spoke from my skull. I dreamed Romantic facts of musketeers Foundationed deep, somehow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Girls' faces formed the forward path From phony jealousy To memorizing politics Of ancient history Flung down by corpse evangelists Unthought of, though, somehow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. A self-ordained professor's tongue Too serious to fool Spouted out that liberty Is just equality in school "Equality," I spoke the word As if a wedding vow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. In a soldier's stance, I aimed my hand At the mongrel dogs who teach Fearing not that I'd become my enemy In the instant that I preach My pathway led by confusion boats Mutiny from stern to bow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats Too noble to neglect Deceived me into thinking I had something to protect Good and bad, I define these terms Quite clear, no doubt, somehow. Ah, but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now.
