Probably a totally different weather system, but since nobody for sure can say what's causing it --
it's been a WILD year in the MidWest for tornado activity, and other violent weather. ![]() Hope it's not a shadow of things to come further south ...

associated largely with a tropical wave...prevails over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. This activity is expected to move over the Yucatan Peninsula during the next 24 hours and will be monitored for signs of development.

Gidday all.
Hasn't the weather bureau been busy this week. Tropical lows popping up every where. Hurricane Bertha is making the history books, in being as one of the longest tracking systems in history. I read this, "Tropical Storm Bertha, which formed in the far-eastern Atlantic off the coast of Africa on July 3, is still meandering through the Atlantic, 16 days later, making it the longest-lived storm ever recorded during July in the Atlantic". In fact, it's already beaten the record by more than four days. The previous record-holder was a 1916 storm that lasted 12 days and change, according to Bloomberg. Anyway we have something to watch as well at the moment. INVEST 94 SATELLITE IMAGES AND SURFACE OBSERVATIONS INDICATE THAT THE TROPICAL WAVE IN THE WESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA HAS NOT BECOME ANY BETTER ORGANIZED DURING THE PAST SEVERAL HOURS. HOWEVER...ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR THIS SYSTEM TO BECOME A TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT 15 MPH. INTERESTS IN THE NORTHWESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE YUCATAN PENINSULA SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM. Atlantic Graphical Tropical Weather Outlook So I'm keeping my eye out, as I have read the history of Wilma & of course remember the quickness of Dean. I'm just a Weather Watcher from way back. Loved a good Thunder Storm since I was a Kid.
