Default Okay, you guys..
do you think animals communicate? I know this is silly and it is Sat. night (and I haven't even had my first tequila for the evening). My puppies just heard some barking and ran to the fence...like someone was saying heads up. Just kinda' weird. Okay, talk amongst yourselves.......

Sure they do!! I used to have a gf who liked to go feed the ducks in Venice Beach Ca. I had to translate for her their conversations.

Dude duck: Hey human!!! trow some of that crap over my way, will ya?

Girl duck: "Stop it! you are going to piss off this guy like you do with everyone else"

Dude duck: "You watch your beak lady, or you won't get any later"

Girl duck: "If you want some of THIS, you better make damn sure I get that big piece of bread that human is about to throw our way"

Dude duck: "You like em big, huh? I'll show you big a little later"

Girl duck: "Ptffffff...please!...Here it comes, catch it! CATCH IT!!!! You dumb duck, go duck yourself!!

When they teach sign language to non-human primates, they CREATE their own words. So, yes, I do think animals can communicate.

Yeah, I think they communicate, at a non-verbal level, with posture, body language etc. Did you know that apparently cats don't meow at other cats, just to humans? Supposedly it's been scientifically proven. They will threaten other cats with a hiss or a growl, but not meow at them.(Sounds like life at my house some days.)
