Default You ever have one of those days...

Yesterday was not my best day. I have had some electrical problems in my house and had one of my outlets cease to work. I did a work around and kind of put it on the back burner. So yesterday I go to turn my printer on and nothing. I check all the connections and everything is good. I finally determine it's the same ciruit but farther down the line, great! I'll be calling the electrician Monday.

Later that day I hear a loud "POP" come from somewhere, so of course I figure something electrical went bad. NOPE, on top of that this happened in my sons room...

It's gonna be a looong day.

I'm just glad Allan wasn't here this weekend!

my husband works in environmental construction and thinks that it looks like that is abestos insulation... you may want to have air samples taken or call a professional for clean up if it is.

LOL, that is hilarious. I'm sorry dude, but it is funny.

Good thing your son wasn't sleeping when that happened.

Don't you hate it when you first buy a house and right after every penny you'd saved went into the down payment and associated fees? And then is time to call the plumber, the electrician, the painter, the tile man.......

And yea, that looks like blown insulation.

I dont know if thats what happened there but yes we do have termites here.

I have no idea where this poem originated but...

MY SAN FERNANDO VALLEY HOME

You'll never find it on the maps
They make at Rand Mcnally,
That God-forsaken place they call
The San Fernando Valley.

Utopia, no doubt you'd think
From what the figures show,
How foolish men rushed out to build
Where rivers used to flow.

When summer comes, it really comes
To fry you through and through
In fact you'll swear the Gates of Hell
Are built next door to you.

And don't forget our winters
We have frost without the snow,
With Fog,and hail, and rains and floods
As cesspools overflow.

Your kiddies will enjoy the sand
That's right within their reach,
If you could move the ocean,
Your backyard can be the beach.

You'll toil, and sweat replanting lawns
This valley's not for loafers,
The flowers you grow are not for looks
you grow them for the gophers.

If Nature is your calling
You'll find loads of nature here
With termites at your front door,
Black widows at the rear.

Pneumonia lurks in every breath
Of river bottom air
If asthma hasn't bothered you
It's bound to find you there.

Give the valley to our Army,
And within a month I'll swear
You can fit a man for Iceland,
"Hell", or anywhere!

Well not sure about the insulation and didn't see the post in time so...

Not a broken pipe, I am pretty sure this happened when I had the light in his room rewired. I think one of the electricians slipped and put their hand down on the acoustic roof instead of the support beams. Allan noticed a little bit of it sagging and it didn't look like a problem to me . From what I could tell there were small nails in the seams holding the tile pieces to the support beams. I am pretty sure the room was remodeled sometime around 1965 so the little nails have been doing their job for quite a while. I think that the blow in insulation was just too heavy and that started a cascaded.

Anyhow with only about $40.00 spent (and $20 of that was for beer ) here's what it looks like now.

So a good temporary fix until I can get someone to replace the roof.

I hope my insurance agent had a good weekend...

Oh yeah, We've been laughing all day about it. There's nothing I can do about it so, enjoy the absurdity of the whole thing. Fortunately, the home has been in my family for 40 years so I am still the same old owner (kind of).

That's why you are supposed to have plenty of money left in the savings after closing...and you wonder why people get foreclosed on.

You used the wrong tape, you'll pay for it later. Do the right thing and fix it for ever with duct tape. Duct tape fixes everything. Matter of fact I'm just finishing the last touches of a brand new terminal at the airport herein Vegas and most of it it's being held together with duct tape. Glide when you come to town, don't stomp or the building make come down on ya!
