Default So many tabs, so little time!
Never saw this subject crop up so....

Not everyone uses tabs with their browser - hubby still insists on opening new windows for evertything! - but here's the question for those who do, how many tabs do you have open (average) at a given time?

I rarely close out my browser and I seem to keep about 5 - 8 tabs open. 1 feed reader, usually a forum (or 2) and random others.

Ahaaa the problem is keeping tabs on my tabs ....... I usually have tabs at la Rana and the Bucket running at the same time and on a friday night PG's get thrown into the pot also .

I usually have 5 or 6 open at one. Tony usually has just one because he says multiple ones slow things down.

I used to hate tabs, but now I hate extra windows. I typically have between 5-10 open at any given time.

I don't know if the number of tabs noticeable slows down my browser, but I know that some websites or plugins I use consistently slow it or crash it. This is Firefox, not IE.

OK, stupid question here!!! How DO you open multiple tab? Like your hubby, I usually open new windows, but sometimes I do have multiple tabs opened... I just don't know how they got there...

So I've been playing around here and I can't figure it out...

It depends on your browser. I believe tabs are now the default for Firefox, and possibly IE7. If not, you can set your preferences one way or the other.

In IE7, you can click on a little star icon in the tab bar, and this will open a new tab. In IE7 and Firefox, you can use Ctrl-T to open a new one.

I have a PC with an IE browser... I usually right click links/ faves to get the menu for tab or window option. I'm sadly VERY mouse dependent.

When I'm at work, I usually have 4 tabs open. The software I work on is web based, so that is the first tab. My gmail account is the second tab. Usually Playa Info is the third and now In the Roo is the 4th.

The only time I noticed a bog down is if I have Yahoo IM (the web version) open for extended periods of time.
