Default I Love Music!

I am accumulating a nice little collection of songs for my new ipod but need some ideas from my Roobie brothers & sisters.

So...if you had to pick 5 songs that you couldn't live without, (older and/or newer, any genres) which ones would you choose?

Thanks guys! Looking forward to hearing from you.

ooHHH this is a hard one.
Old school I would definately have to pick something from Prince. I'll have to give this more thought.

1. A Change of Seasons - Dream Theater

2. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence - Dream Theater (off the "Score" live DVD with Orchestra)

3. Catch The Rainbow - Rainbow (Live on Stage)

4. Achilles Last Stand - Led Zeppelin

5. 2112 - Rush

This is an extremely tough question........

okay, for me it's very hard with just 5.

Music is my weakness. I drive my family BONKERS with music. I listen to music CONSTANTLY.

I love all types of music EXCEPT country! (okay, I can handle SOME country...but not much! It makes me want to stick forks in my eyes!)

Sooo....okay, I'll try.

Song Name - Artist - Genre
  1. Kothbiro - Ayub Ogada - African
  2. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - Martin Luther McCoy (Across The Universe version - if you haven't heard it, you really should!) - Rock
  3. Fade to Black - Metallica - Metal
  4. Given Up - Linkin Park - Alternative
  5. Breathe Me - Sia - Alternative
  6. Love You Till The End - The Pogues - Celtic Pop

okay it's six....I could barely get it down to that!

EDIT: oh, I have to add Whipping Post, Frank Zappa's version!!!

Wow, this is too difficult. This list is subject to change on an hourly basis, as it is what I have been listening to, this AM.

1. Karma Police / Radiohead
2. Let's Dance to Joy Division/ The Wombats
3. Signed, Sealed, Delivered / Stevie Wonder
4. Way Down Now / World Party
5. Atmosphere / Son Volt

Throw in "I'll be There" by the Jackson 5, as the song off the bench.

Thanks guys! I really like some of your choices. Some of it is new to me, which is great. I will check those out. iTunes is so cool for that.

I am taking notes, so keep them coming please!

Did I tell you that I love music.

Oh...and Santa gave me a Bose Sound Dock to go with my iPod. The sound that comes out of this small system is unbelievable!! I think that I will take it to Playa.

Few others to check out.

M.I.A. - Sri Lankan rap (in English)
Mandy Moore - I know, she is considered to be bubble gum, but her new album is an alt country joy.
Lucinda Williams and/or Emmylou Harris - Anything they do is timeless
Michael Penn - Sean Penn's music brother
Public Enemy - it amazes me that Flavor Flav is actually talented
Radiohead - In Rainbows CD. Not a bad song on it.
Shelby Lynne - another country fave of mine
The Shins - Great stuff
Travis and/or Keane Nice Brit pop
Kent - awesome Swedish pop
Ryan Adams and/or Whiskeytown - talented alt country/rock guy
Amy Mann - ex lead singer of Til Tuesday. Her solo stuff is amazing

These are the bands currently making a lot of time on my IPOD

Here's a motley bunch for ya. These are songs that no matter when I hear them -- or how many times -- I am instantly transported to a happier place:

"Lightning Striking Again" by Lou Christie

"L'il Darling" big band jazz, composed by Neil Hefti, performed by the Count Basie Band

"So Many Stars" by Sergio Mendes, vocals by Lani Hall

"In France they Kiss on Main Street" by Joni Mitchell, the live version where Pat Metheny is backing her up

"Cuba Libre" by Gloria Estefan

I really like this song....I like Brett Dennen. A nice sound. I also like Joshua Radin, who is very similar. "What If" is a beautiful song, we played it at my mom's funeral.

Well said and couldn't agree more. I don't own any Shins yet, but I am going to check them out now...thanks.

5? Holy smokes, that's hard

1 - Nella Fantasia by Il Divo
2 - Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen (we were discussing this the other night, my vote for the best song musically ever)
3 - Hells Bells - AC/DC
4 - The Dance by Garth Brooks
5 - One Love by Bob Marley

I could a zillion songs, got about 2300 songs on my ipod & yes, the Bose dock is the most amazing sound for such a little thing

Need any more? Lemme know

Only five? OK, here's five of my several hundred favorites.

I Can't Get Started With You. - Francis Albert Sinatra. Lyrics and Music by Ira Gershwin and Vernon Duke.

"I've flown around the world in plane..."

Will the Circle Be Unbroken. - The Neville Brothers. Traditional hymn reworded for by the Neville Brothers.

"When I heard them hearse wheels rollin'..."

Feels Like Home. - Bonnie Rait. Music and lyrics by Randy Newman. (Mine and Cheri's wedding song).

"Feels like I'm on my way back where I belong."

One Way Out. - The Allman Brothers. Music and Lyrics by Sonny Boy Williamson.

"There's a man down there, might be your man, I don't know".

California. - Joni Mitchell

"They won't give peace a chance. That was just a dream some of us had."

That's five, but here's one more that's rapidly becoming a favorite for me:

Rock and Roll Jesus. - Kid Rock.

"It's the same song spinning, but the same song's always been true."
