Nuevo Vallarta is kind of like Playacar except without the residential area. We stayed at the Riu Vallarta for a couple of nights last year for a wedding. We don't like AIs so we just stayed as long as we had to in order to attend the wedding. The hotel and beach were very nice, nothing wrong with it. I just isn't our thing.
We also spent time in downtown Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita and Guyabitos. Loved all of them for different reasons. I gotta run right now, but if anyone wants to hear more about these places, just let me know and I'll write something up later. |

I honeymooned in Nuevo Vallarta. Stayed at the Sierra Nuevo Vallarta. Didn't care much for the water, but we were spoiled by Playa by that time. We did have a blast in town and on all the tours we did. We did the Los Arcos snorkeling tour, did a booze crusie that took us to an island only lit by candles for a very romantic dinner, and I almost got myself killed on a jungle tour that took us to the set of the first Predator. That was way cool as alot of the movie set was still intact. We love the beach at Mismayola as well. It rained like hell alot, but we still had an awesome time.

Never been, but a friend of ours LOVES the Puerto Vallarta area. She's not much into the beach/water aspects of a vacation; she's more into cultural immersion. I guess the old part of Puerto Vallarta has a lot of colonial-era architecture, etc., that's evocatively atmospheric.

We spent a week in Puerto Vallarta last April (good gosh, it's been that long
)I LOVED that area. It is a lot of history and culture. It's a different feeling then Playa of course, but worth checking it out. I have TONS of pictures if your interested. |

Hi MoonDollar
I would love to see some of the pictures you have from that area. I know the water is not as nice as Playa but I am sure you can still swim in it. Hubby and I know nothing much about this area and what one can do. Do you know anything about Yelapa our friends also want to go there for the day. Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. |
