I had mine done last year at age 60. They found one very small polyp that they took care of immediately.
I didn't feel a thing and next time I think I'll even pass on the sedative. My uncle Martin died a very painful death due to untreated colon cancer. He bragged that he never needed to go to a doctor. By the time he did go to a doctor it had taken over all his major organs. Please guys, get'r done. It's really, really important. |

![]() Everybody, please go. I have even taken my mom in law for one. The drugs are GOOD. It's really not that bad and better than the alternative. |

My husband caught his colorectal cancer in the nick of time, and he was younger than 50. If he had waited until being 50 ... he probably would not have made 50. If you have a family history of colon cancer, let your PCP know. My husband LOVED whatever sedative cocktail they gave him; still gets a starry look in his eyes when he talks about it. |

I think they commonly use a drug called "Versed". Aparently, it's amazing stuff and you really have NO memory of ANYTHING happening. |

If Versed were a woman, my husband would run off with her ...

I put this off till last year, but it was a breeze! Even the prep was not terrible, just a small bottle of salty stuff I mixed w/some Crystal light lemondade and chugged. They put that Versed and a pain killer in that IV and everything is groovy! Really, any of you that have put this off, don't be afraid, go have it done. |

Well, mine is done. The prep really sucked...the procedure, no problem. He did find one tiny polyp, said not to worry about it, it looked to be nothing serious. So I wait for the results now. Hope it really I just nothing. I'm tired, gonna do something I never do, and that's crawl back into bed for a daytime nap.

![]() Got there early as they requested. They immediately put an IV socket in my arm and threw me on a gurney where I waited for the next 2 hours. By the time I got into the exam room, the IV had coagulated, so when they gave me the sedative, it all went under the tape holding the IV socket to my arm. Believe me, it's all still quite vivid in my mind!! The worst part was the second bend, as they made that final turn toward the appendix. That hurt like hell and I had to put pressure against my lower chest to dampen the pain. Guess I should feel blessed that they didn't puncture me!! (Same hospital that punctured my sister's heart during a biopsy two years ago). Anyway, the exit run was way smoother than the inbound one. ![]() Jimmy |
