Cattywhompus..all messed up pertaining to eveness, like a chair that has one leg that is shorter and you end up rocking on it back and forth.

Hubby is from Western Penn and he says "red up'. He also Wooshes his car.

People from Minnesota crack me up. "can you BORROW me 5 bucks?"

At 10 years old, I moved to Wisconsin from Illinois. Only a 2 hour difference in drive, but I had to get used to the following (as have been mentioned):

Was a 'drinking fountain', now is a 'blubbler'

Was 'pop', now is 'soda'

Was 'cutting in line' ,now is 'skipping in line'

Was 'Traffic Lights', now is 'Stop N Go Lights'

Was always "Kitty Corner"

One last thing...when I was in Playa with StewartG, I kept telling him I needed to get to the Tyme machine. He kept looking at my quizically. And finally he asked what a Tyme machine was. That is our ATM in Wisconsin (Tyme is Money).

I never asked, but now I think about it, he probably thought I was some sort of scifi geek looking for my time capsule to transport me from place to place.

Too funny, I love reading this. What about "and that" as in, "I've got to do the laundry, go to the Giant Iggle, en-at." I can't think of any more right now.

Bufante, it's always been bag where I've lived. Sack....Reminds me of Sack o Suds from the movie My Cousin Vinny. Hmmm, regional difference illustrated, because Vinny's nickname wasn't Vinnysackodoughnuts.

I go bonkers everytime the Hubby says that a particular tree is a "monkey balls" tree. It's a "Horse Apple" tree, dammit! I am referring to the Bois De Arc tree.
The first time he asked me for a Gumband, I thought he was nuts.

His mother is the worst. She leaves off the last syllable on Italian foods. It's Riccott, Spaghett, etc.

Does she say, "gabbagool"?
Or is that pretty much a universal way of saying it?

Having absolutely no Italian heritage, I thought that is exactly the proper pronunciation of Italian food items. So I'm making an arse of myself when I go to the Italian grocery and order sopresett, mortadell, and proscuitt?

It's actually "cappacolli", a cured ham - I don't know what it had, but they cured it...

hehe! People who grew up in Pgh. have their own language. There's way too many sayings to write down. I remember we used to think we were swearing when we called someone a "jagoff". Meaning a jerk or annoying person.

Oh I forgot about that one , what a trip down memory lane. I have Ah, Leah! in my head right now. Not a fantastic tune, but I have some mind footage that makes it great.

Did you hear hear the news that Myron Cope died this week?
