Default Bizzare Remedies That Really Work

Someone once told me duct tape gets rid of plantar warts. Of course I love duct tape solutions, so when my daughter complained of a painful wart on her foot, I busted out the duct tape, figured it was worth a try before schedule a painful appt. with the doctor. Her wart was so deep is caused tears when I pressed the duct tape in place. Three days later we removed the duct tape and poof the wart was gone

Another strange remedy I've been able to prove works is gold for stys on your eyes. As soon as you feel a sty rub it with gold, wedding bands work great (I've heard 24k is best, but I've sucessfully used 14k). The most important tip to having this work is DO NOT touch your eye once the gold has been rubbed on it. I've done this myself several times in my life and it works. It's also worked on my husband and children.

Anyone else know of any Bizarre remedies you've been able to prove work?

Duct Tape - have used for plantars warts and splinter removal

Tooth Paste - clears the pimple that a hot pack won't (very drying though)

Vicks Vapor Rub - nail fungus

I love home remedies and am not a fan of pills & scripts. I have a small herb garden and am still learning about different herbal remedies.

Good info gals. I don't have anything that is exactly a home remedy, but I have to put in a plug for Dr. Burt's Parsley Thyme Blemish Stick. It's not only for blemishes. My husband got a little creeping crud kinda thing on his forehead last summer. Zap! Gone! It stung a little, well a lot, I didn't think I'd get my hands on the family jewels ever again... but the jewels are fine. Whatever the crud was, it actually left a scar, it was that powerful.

I did that when I was pregnant and had leg crapms almost everynight...sure as heck it works!

Also, not really home remedy but put Vicks vapor rub on the bottom of your feet, or your childrens at bedtime, cures the congestions. I had a few people tell me and I didn't think it worked and then a couple weeks ago Collin had a really bad cough and congestion, I tried it and he slept all night, no coughing, nothing. I have used it myself since then.

This has been around for a long time, but a sure way to remove ear wax is to make a cone of waxed linen (melt parafin, dip a 1 inch by 6 inch strip of linen or fine cotton in it, wrap it around a pencil to make a three inch long cone. Refrigerate it until it is hard), stick the narrow end in patient's ear (careful, not too far!) and light the wider end with a match. Let it burn until the flame get within a couple of inches of the patient's ear. Remove the cone and immediately dunk it in a glass of water to extinguish the flame. Unravel the cotton and be amazed at the amount of wax! I know, sounds gross, but it really works! It's a good idea to put a piece of aluminum foil with a hole cut in it over the patient's ear. Nobody likes getting their hair singed!

Or you can buy ear candles at the health food store.
Either way, it does work.
