Default Temecula,California wines???

Heading to Palm Desert/Indian Wells and San Diego areas on Thursday!!! Hooray! One of the day trips I have planned is to visit some wineries in Temecula. Anyone been there and able to suggest what wineries are worth visiting??? I plan on going to the Callaway Winery...hubby is glad it is associated with the golf family! Anyone have a favorite wine from the area?? I'm also open to suggestions for any other good California wines to try while we're there.

Try sending Syl a PM......she lives in Los Olivos, California which is in the Santa Barbara area.....but she might be able to give you some wineries in that area to check out.

Try Thornton Winery, that one is a nice one. I'm not too familiar with the others, but Callaway and Thornton are good ones. The town of Temecula has grown significantly but the main drag still has "old towne" charm.

Next time out, try to plan a day trip down to Ensenada. Just before you get to Ensenada there is a turn off through the wine valley of Baja. We went there for the first time in January and I can hardly wait to go again! It is so awesome out there. Most of the wineries are smaller scale and the ride through the valley is so peaceful! Top it off at the bigger winery called L.A.CETTO at the end of the wine route, you won't be disappointed. Awesome!

My ex's cousin owns and runs a winery in Temecula. I was there once in the early 90's and can't remember the name of it. All I knew was we had to drive around the freaking mountains just to get to the beach which was like 5 miled away as the crow flies. They also used the road by their house as an airplane runway at the time.

Thanks everyone! Will definitely put Thornton on the list! Will also look and see if we can fit Ensenada in the schedule. We fly in to San Diego early Thursday morning and then drive to Indian Wells for a week of relaxation in the sun. The following Thursday we head back to San Diego for the weekend where Youngest has a soccer tournament. Plan on spending Thursday night in Palm Springs for their Marketplace fun! It was snowing like crazy this morning but it should melt quickly. I am sooooo ready for spring.
