That's one tall lady, Cos!

Today I went for my usual walk to the beach with the dog, but for a change I brought the camera...but wouldn't you know it, the day I bring it the tide is IN. Figures.

Oh well, we walk to the train bridge anyway, and check out the latest art work.

We check out the inlet, I get a neat photo:

and we walk the train tracks back and see some fresh spring flowers growing

I remembered that Sideways had asked for some newer pics of Moses on the Dog Pics thread, so I took him down to the beach to snap some of him.

I told him to say "cheese" and I guess he thought of the food cheese, and licked his chops:

then he smiled and said "cheese" (see his smile? )

Then I told him to pose for a full body photo and I guess the sun was too bright for him ha!

And finally he was a good subject:

Since it was a beautiful day and cooler,(60's)....Slim and I decided to go to one of our favorite new places for our walk. We discovered it last weekend but I didn't think to bring a camera. This is a nature preserve that runs along Spring Creek about 3 miles from home. It is smack in the middle of town but yet you get away from all the hustle and bustle and noise of the city.

Sammy stops to enjoy some bluebonnets.

part of the creek

the path is concrete for walkers and bikers

one of the many bridges

the creek

a huge butterfly, or moth

Slim and Samson

A view from across the bridge

Slim and the baby

We walked about 1 1/4 hours. We didn't cover the whole area. I think there is close to 4 miles of trails there.
What a nice way to spend some time with my family. Beats whining anytime.

Nice photos, Rita. I am jealous of everything being so green. Still looking at lots of brown here.

These were taken last week.

I woke up to ducks in the pool.

Then I went to the dentist for a cleaning

Then I stopped along the highway to enjoy the bluebonnets

Then I went shopping and got a pedicure and still made it to water aerobics class.

Default Marissa's Trike-A-Thon

I took off work today...whoo hoo...to go to Marissa's pre-school for their Trike-A-Thon. It is a charity event that raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It is a day learning all about safety rules of biking. It was a beautiful sunny day. The program began with Officer Mike explaining safety rules for riding bikes in your neighborhood. The kids loved this part. They got to sit in the police car and sound the sirens!

I pray this is the only time I see my daughter in the back of a police car!!

Then it was time for a snack at the picnic tables.

Time to play redlight/greenlight!

Marissa's turn to call the shots!

Then it was time to ride. I lost count on how many times she rode around in circles...all the kiddos did great!

They all received their safety awards at the end of the day!

All the kids just wanted to keep on riding...they had so much fun!

My son, Aidan, and his school are having their Trike-A-Thon today...he left the house in his Spiderman helmet and already had his knee & elbow pads on.

One of the best parts of being an Air Force Officer is being able to officiate ceremonies for Promotions, Commissionings, and Re-enlistments. Those privileges continue even though I'm retired. The highlight was comissioning my son...but a couple of weeks ago, I had the honor of retiring a friend from 30 years in the Air Force. We served together at the age of 18 and have remained close friends and always been able to get together for special occasions. Tony rose to the highest rank an enlisted person can...Command Chief Master Sergeant. Here are a few photos from the ceremony

Arrival of the official party

Award of the Meritorious Service medal

My Remarks

Reading of the Retirement Order

Presenting his wife with a retirement certificate of support

His daughters present him with a shadow box commemorating 30 yrs of service.

Flag passing ceremony...the flag is passed from Airman Basic through each rank to the highest rank he obtained Command Chief Master Sergeant

Flag folding ceremony

Presented with a flag that was flown over the U.S capitol, On every airplane he flew as a crewmember, on Operation Enduring Eagle missions in Afghanistan and over the Florida/Florida State game(he's a big Fla fan)

His parents recently became U.S. citizens (Scottish emigrants) and he presented them with a U.S. flag

Saying a tearful goodbye after 30 yrs and 23 days of Outstanding service to the Nation

Default Evan's Trike A Thon

Like Monica, we also had a Trike A Thon @ Evan's Preschool on Thursday.

His class, 14 3-4 year olds brought their wheels to school, got a safety lesson, drivers licenses, and drove around a course in their parking lot.

Here are a couple of pics...
