Default Copper thieves strike again

Shaking my head in disbelief.

WINDSOR - Police are trying to find the brazen thieves who chopped down 14 towering telephone poles and stripped them of more than a kilometre of copper wiring.

Up here in Minnesota they're breaking into empty houses and stealing all the copper pipes.

Two homes have burned to the ground because they stole the copper gas pipe without shutting off the gas!

Unbelievable--is it really worth it at $2.50 a pound at a scrapyard?

As we say up here, you betcha', by golly!

I have a small handyman business and I take my scrap brass and copper from remodel jobs to the scrapper, twice a year. Last December I got $167!

Enough $$ for a couple of days food and adult beverages in Playa.

Around here, they steal aluminum siding right off houses.
When I lived in the city, my next door neighbor came home from work and his front leaded glass window was stolen in broad daylight.

These are the weirdest theft stories I've ever heard, but I believe them. How ironic to be concerned about identity theft and other "modern" hazards when houses have burned to the ground because the gas pipe was stolen.
