Since we know Barry is too proud to brag, we just wanted to post some pictures of the magazine where his art is featured. We were pretty lucky to score our very own copy!! Not only is his work on the cover, but it's also on the contents page, as well. Here are some photos. They aren't very good, because I can't manage to get a good shot without the flash, and the flash leaves bright light on it (I'm [Cheri] the world's worst photographer), so Barry, if you have better ones, please post them!

Cover of the May 19, 2008 copy of Travel Weekly:

The contents page:

I tried to take a photo of the information about Barry on the contents page, but that didn't work either. But here's what it says:

BARRY LAUNIUS, whose art is featured on this page and the cover, resides in Jefferson City, Missouri with his wife, Phyllis, and two dogs.

After a lot of soul searching, Barry landed on what he calls his "soul's chosen path." With a passion for the Caribbean and watercolor paints, he has achieved in a short period of time what most artists work a lifetime to achieve.

Today, Barry is found in either mid-Missouri or Playa del Carmen, Mexico, where he and his wife now own property.

Please feel free to visit his collection online at caribbeancolors.com, and enjoy what he likes to call "Serenity by Sight."

Cover: "Something Alluring"
This Page: "Inside Out"

Way to go, Barry!!!

Aw Shucks! Thanks Cheri, Yeah you are SOooo...right about the "glare."
I guess it's that darn " extra-glossy" paper they use. Here's another shot I just took. All I was able to do was move the "glare" to a different spot - O-well! I DO know that in my so called "soul searching" I've found a spot at the Luna Blue where I've left part of it! Thanks for always having an open door, arms and heart for Phyllis & I. See ya soon- Looks like 45 days from now.
Hey, Let's do a 4th of July beach day get-away and I checked, No Buffet conecrts while we're there- Boo Hoo!
Rita, I believe the magazine is only for subscribers so RUN to your local Travel Agent ( actually I'd call to see who has it first) Should be in their paws tomorrow!

Wow...what beautiful cover! You must be on cloud 9, Barry. I am so proud and happy for you! Yes, you do deserve the recognition and all the happiness that comes with this honor. Phyllis must be so proud too. Congratulations, my friend.

This is absolutely wonderful!! xo

Congrats again, Barry.
It looks great!

To reiterate, this isn't something Travel Weekly does routinely.
In fact, this is the FIRST time a painting has graced the cover of the magazine since it was founded in 1939. (Can't say about the "Contents" page, but it's certainly then the first time a Cover AND Contents page has been utilized this way!)

Going to have to give a few local agents/agencies a call today.

You should be excited, that's quite an accomplishment. And your paintings are beautiful- am I correct in assuming there were no spray cans, lighters, or fire used in painting them?

Wow! Thanks everyone! Much appreciated. I'd have to rank this up there as #2 on the "art accomplishments" in my short career. The 1st was a week long AquaCat Luxury Scuba Live-aboard thru the Exumas after they purchased my art for each of the cabins. GREAT TIME, and beautiful too!

Barry - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Now, when is your next trip to Playa and if we again are fortunate enough to cross paths there, can I get you to autograph the cover for me?

You are a talented artist and deserve every recognition that comes your way.
