You know how on certain trips, there's a day that stands out above all the rest~? Well this Friday was that day this trip (It was also the next time the camera made it's way out of the bag).

Actually, it was a day I'll always remember.
Always.
Plans were made to spend a day on Isla Mujeres...and the weather, on this one particular day, cooperated fully. (Thank you, Thank you).

After a quick side trip to Doggy Day Care (Cool place, BTW) we headed to Cancun and Puerto Juarez.

Had a quick stop at the McDonald's on 307 near the city where I think their overhead music was the loudest I'd heard anywhere (It certainly was in the bathroom). On past the Bull Ring where we noticed the signs for an upcoming Bullfight that Tony went to later and into the parking ramp where the attendant directed the Big Bastard into a compact car space (As Tony and Cheri say, "Only in Mexico~!") and then T&C dashed to buy tickets for the ferry with only about a minute to spare before departure....

Nice ride over....Entertainment and everything...

Got off the ferry and T&C handled the Golf Cart negotiations.
Had a nice running cart and Cheri handled it well, it ran great...but it fishtailed quite a bit. Made for some funny comments from the driver and navigator at higher speeds. We were able to tour the island a bit before heading to the beach area where T&C had spent some time before on a previous trip.

We found a nice place at The Sunset Grill in front of the Nautibeach Condos. (LOVE that name). They were working on revamping their pool next to the indoor portion of the Sunset Grill. But it's a nice size, swim up bar too....

There's a really neat place right on the point that had a grill and rooms, can't remember the name of it, but you are literally STEPS from the beach, and a few more to the ocean. Cool place.

It was Happy Hour ALL day long~! Cervesas were 20 Pesos tops (2 for 1) and I had a fair share of Tequila Sunrises at 40 or 50 Pesos (2 for 1).

We ordered some nice food, and Cheri had Ruth buy the Pepitas which are spice Squash seeds (more so than pumpkin because they were longer barrel shapes and turned-up edges). SO good~!

The weather held out, some nice time in the ocean and sun (FINALLY~!)....

And the Ixchel condos are right there as well.

A MUCH needed massage for the infirmed....
(He was there a LONG time)

Ahhhh, it was a great day and I could see why Isla holds such an affinity with so many. I can see Isla really taking off in the future.

Getting late, losing daylight and thinking about dinner before the ferry and ride home, we made our way back into town, but NOT until after T&C so thoughtfully made several trips around the island (Some places even 2-3 times to be sure we had seen them) before we got the golf cart back to the rightful owner/renters before their closing time.

Off to Hidalgo Street and dinner (Can't remember where. Italian place....I had pasta and I'm pretty sure there was pizza too)

It looks like you guys had a wonderful time on Isla. The island holds a special place in our hearts and our children ask to go there just about every week. Nice pics Tim!

My Aunt and Uncle have recently built a house on Isla. It is one of the nicest, on the island. If I had more time, I would be a nuisance.

Wow, I bet it's beautiful alright. Would love to see more pics too.
Yeah, better you being a nuisance on Isla than in Playa.

Most of my photos include family members, and I don't want to post them without the express, written permission of the NFL. I will try to get some more house shots, next time we visit.

Now, enough threadjacking. Back to Tim's report, which I am enjoying (almost as much as I enjoy his company).

I really liked seeing the architecture I saw in the buildings, and stores, and the nature of some of the homes on the island...

The beach where we were had such a gentler slope that you were still wading in water knee to thigh high a LONG way from shore...and the waves were very gentle, at least that day.

AND the colors of the water had that more characteristic shading of blue you see as more prevalent, seemingly, in Cancun than you do in points south.

AND, you could see the sunset.
I'd missed seeing the sunset in Playa (As it usually hides behind Playa as I'm being dragged off the beach).

A VERY heartfelt Thank You to our dear friends, who made our special day on Isla happen...

Very Nice Cuff. Thanks for sharing your trip. Your pics are beautiful.

I'm glad that you got so spend some quality times with your dear friends. Undoubtably, a very much needed and well deserved break for them too.

Is there more?

Yes.

Have a nice dinner....
Get drunk.
Make Love.

Watch the sunrise in the morning...~!

(Suppose first I should ask who "we're leaving" would be...?)

(And PM Michele for a nice room recommendation, she's killer Isla info)

Wow! From now I'm writing to "Dear Cuff"!

"We're" would be hubby and me, silly man.

I may check out Plaza Alemendros or Casa Sirena.......but I can ask Michele at the Obama party!

Thanks Cuff.

That's good to hear Kim....
Wouldn't want Kenny coming after me for your following directions!

Have a La Pinta shot (or three) on me.

So, if we went with our kids for the day, what would you suggest? (I always have the greatest plans beforehand. Then I get there and relaxation takes control and I lay on the beach and think, maybe tomorrow I'l go to...).
