Down to Tulum we go! We managed to almost make it there without a stop, but sorries, I need a potty break! We arrive for our 8pm reservation right on time. Unfortunately, our group has to be split into two tables. I grab the table outside overlooking the ocean with Brent, Kathleen, and Kim (Kenny was not feeling well this evening and opted out of dinner). The rest of the gang had a table inside. Stewart was a cordial host and jumped between both tables.
    Drinks were the first order of business. In honor or my dive in the morning, I order a SCUBAtini. Don’t know what was in it, but it was good.  Next on hand, were the appetizers. Stewart suggests the mushrooms and I’m so glad we ordered 3 plates of them. YUMMO!!!  The crab rangoon was also good!!  Since, I trust Stewart’s impeccable knowledge of food, I throw caution to the wind and have him order for me. This is the first time, ever, that I’ve asked someone to order for me. It felt kind of liberating. I forget what it is called, but it is very good. Some sort of salad with lamb on. Sorry,I was sort of drunk at this time and don't remember the name...  It’s good. But not as good as Kim’s Chicken Pad Thai and I keep sneaking a fork into her plate.  Dinner is over with and Stewart comes over and says that the other table hasn’t even ordered yet. I have plans to meetup with Cyndy and Jeanean as PG’s, plus I’m anxious to see Andy and Jen and all the other wonderful Playa Peeps. Since it’s nearly 10pm, I ask Stewart if he would mind it I take a cab back. I feel bad about this, because he went through all the arrangements of creating a beautiful night for all of us, but my time in Playa is limited this time and I want to make sure that I do everything!

I grab a cab back and arrive at PG’s about 11pm. One hour to go before the alcohol ban goes into effect. What to drink? What to drink? Oh…yeah...diving in the morning. Best not to have anymore. I sit with Cyndy and Jeanean and enjoy the music of Chris Bollister.
Gorgeous Jeanean  Cute Couple: Judy and Steve  Steve and I with the vivacious Cyndy!!  About a ½ hour later, Brent and Kathleen and Kim show up at PG’s. Wow! That other table ate fast!! The tell me that Stewart snored rather loudly on the way home from Tulum and they thought about sticking toes up his nose!! At midnight, the music stops as well as the alcohol. I say goodnight to everyone and head back to the Alux. I’m wide awake for hours! Seems that sugar in the white wine I drank is keeping me awake. I should know better. I think it’s nearly 4am by the time I nod off.

We tried to go for dinner on a Friday but we couldn't get in because of a wedding reception they were having. We went to Que Fresco to eat and then came back to Mezzanine for the DJ Party later on. The place was packed like sardines! So many beautiful people in a gorgous setting. I am really enjoying your trip report and I love your pics. Can't wait to read the rest!

Paulo draws a map in the sand and explains our next dive, takes a second to comment on my tan, checks out my dive computer, and we are back in the boat and then descending again. I think I enjoyed the second dive much more than the first because of the terrain. There were a few opportunities to swim into the overhangs, but since I don’t trust my buoyancy skills enough, I opt out. I don’t want to stir anything up and besides, homicidal moray eels hang out in those places. I’m not afraid to see sharks (I’d actually LOVE to see one)…but I am afraid of those eels. Anyone remember ‘The Deep’?!
 Towards the end of the dive, there is a cave – like swim through. Paulo motions me over to follow him. But I am hesitant. Again, I don’t want to stir up anything or bump into things I shouldn’t. He senses me apprehension and motions me over again and sort of takes me under his wing. We swim through together and he pulls out his flashlight and shines it on various points of the cave. That was definitely the highlight of the dive and it’s over much too quickly! Again, before I know it, we are done with the dive and back in the boat and headed back to the diveshop. I’m a little sad as I don’t want it to be over. But all good things must come to end. At the dive shop, we say our goodbyes to Paulo and head back to our hotel to drop off our gear and the head to the Kool to meet up with Kelli, Kathleen, Kim and the rest of the gang!Stewart brought his underwater camera. Sounds like you came threw all your fears,,,,good for you I am jealous as this is somthing I have always wanted to do but never had the courage. My sound and daughter in-law are both divers, she was a diver in the Canadian Navy before she married my son,so diving in the waters of Mexico for her are like being in heaven. She once did an ice dive in Winnipeg I could never do that she said it was scary but beautiful. Keep up the good work and soon you will be a pro.
