Default Hacienda San Antonio Chalante

If you have a hankering to visit the interior of the peninsula, I can recommend this Hacienda. It is very close to Izamal and is considered a 'budget' hacienda, but we found it a very good fit for us. There are ten room ranging in price from 500-800 pesos a night. That includes taxes and a full breakfast. If you also want dinner, you can order it ahead of time. The dinners are excellent and cost 100 pesos per person. Wine, beer or soda is extra. We spent a couple of nights here, running into Merida during the day to take care of some business we had there. http://www.haciendachalante.com

They keep horses on the premises and offer trail rides. There is also a swimming pool and lots of birding and solitude and quiet. They also allow you to bring your dog

Wow - this looks so charming.

I would love to visit Merida and the surrounding area.
