OK.... back from a bout with the FLU!
 The ride to Playa was rather uneventful but once we got to town the traffic was something else. The directions they gave us at the rental office did nothing but bring us to some shops spiting distance from the bus station, no office that we could see. So we decided to head to the address on the retal agreement.... could not find that office either. After becoming ticked off at the situation, and each other, we decided to head to Luna Blue. When we got there we were greeted by Tony and he said he would have his man at the desk make a call and help us out in finding someplace to return the jeep. He soon gave us very easy directions to the nearest office to return the jeep. The problem was that when we got to that address there was NO office! So back to Luna Blue and this time when the great staff at Luna Blue called they told them to come and get thier jeep! It was to the bar to have a Margarita and wait. About 10 minutes later a man from the rental office showed up to pick up the jeep. Thank you Tony!!! The funny thing about the inspection was that the man doing the inspection for damage asked for a tip before he started!!!!!! Oh well, money well spent. Back to my spot at the bar to finish my drink and talk to Genero, a great bar tender and host. Then Shammy came down and we talked for a bit, it was nice to see her again. After walking around the garden it was off to the room to get ready for the evening. Our room was great! A fantastic veiw of the garden form above, and very clean and comfortable. I know a lot of you have been to Luna Blue, but for those who have not, here are some pics.

Rob sorry to hear you have been sick.
 It was so great to hang out with you and Shanda...our day in Tulum was one of the best days of our trip....loving all the great pics...more please!!

After we cleaned up and changed cloths, it was time for Shanda and I to head out to meet up with a couple of our close friends from home. They were staying down in Playacar at one of the RUI resorts and were coming to town. The plan was that we would meet them at Senior Frogs, thier neice and friends would show up and then we would head down to the peep meet at La Rana. I know, I know, why would you go to Senior Frogs? They really wanted to meet there so we figured what the heck, no big deal..... little did we know. As normal, we were running late so we skipped supper and went right to Senior Frogs, 15 min. late. They were not there, since we had not eaten yet, we ran down to Carboncitos for supper. Our thinking was that they are NEVER late so we must have got the time wrong and they must have said 8 not 7 o'clock. Back to Senior Frogs at 8:00 to find them sitting there wondering why we were so late.... 7:00 was the correct time. Opps! Oh well, we appoligized and everything was ok, for now..... I was feeling pretty run down so when we ordered drinks I asked for a Vodka/Red Bull, and Shanda ordered a Dacquri. Our freinds were drinking beer. After they brought the drinks I asked how much they were apeice. Our waiter said he would find out for me. This went on for 4 rounds, minus Shanda's Dacquri as she only had one, thank goodness! Each time I would ask, "How Much!" Each time our waiter would say he would check it out. So finally I asked for the check. Shanda's drinks was $24 and mine were $18 each!!!!! Holy CCRRRAAPPPP! I just about blew a nut!!!!!!!! I knew going in that it would be expensive but that was way out of line. I talked to the waiter, then a manager and told them exactly what I thought of not being told the price after repeatedly asking. My share came to $96 US in one and a half hours time! I did not try to get out of my bill as I should have known better, but I did feel it my God given right to let them know how I felt about it. After I let them know I put 1000 pesos on the table and walked away. Needless to say my bride was not happy about the way that I conducted myself! (that is putting it lightly) So I dropped her off at Luna Blue and I went over to see if anybody was still at La Rana. Not many left by that time so I went over to the beer bucket and said hi to a few that were still hanging around. Then it was back to La Rana and sat down with Jimmy MN and tried to solve most of the worlds problems. After a bit Big Dave showed up and we closed down the place, they really started to lock down and then asked us to leave.... I did not think this ever happened, lucky for us it did. Bed felt real good that night.
Thursday we woke up to a very windy morning and I could tell that Shanda was very nervous about the weather as this was the scheduled day for the Catamaya Cruise, and she gets very sea sick. I went down 5th to get breakfast. I stopped at Java Joes for one of his fantastic breakfast bagel sandwhiches and a cup of coffee. No Strabucks for this guy. Then I went to Hot to pick up Shanda a banana bread and brought it all back to Luna Blue for breakfest on the balcony. After breakfast I went down to see about the pick-up time and that is when Tony told everyone that the harbor master had closed the harbor due to high winds. Well I guess it made Shanda's decison about what to do a lot easier. A bunch of people headed down to Mamitas but as usual we were not ready to leave so we got down to the beach about 1/2 hour after everyone else. We found them at Kool, with a couple of chairs and a palapa reserved for us. It was a great day for pics as the kite boardiing competition was going on, with plenty of wind.        Oh, I almost forgot.... the surf was VERY rough and during our last swim Shanda go drilled by a large cresting wave. Took her for on heck of a ride and when she came up she was minus her bandana and sunglasses. She was not very happy, and I got the look that signified it was somehow my fault...go figure. After watching some of the competition and taking about 100 photos we decided to walk down the beach to get something to eat. We stopped at Fusion to try the burgers that everyone says are so good.  They were very good but I don't know if they should be called"The Best Burger in Playa". After lunch we started walking south. Soon we hit the Ferry Peir, and decided to keep going as we had not been south of the pier in many years. Since the beaches were gone just south of town, we had to go up into Playacar for the first stretch. It did not take long to remember why we hadn't been south of the Ferry Pier in so many years. Those big resorts are just not our thing. If it is your thing that's fine, we just don't happen to agree on the best way to vacation. So please do not take this personal.... all those people just looked like sheep being hearded around and told when the feeding trough was open and when it was closed. OK, I've made my point enough on that issue. We kept walking until we came across the RUI that our freinds were staying at. We walked right up to the front desk and asked if they could ring his room for us. They did better than that, they gave us his room number. So much for security..... We walked right up the beach, through the pool area, and up to the front desk and got the location of one of the guests with no colored wrist bands and no questions asked.After a short visit we were in a taxi back to Luna Blue to get ready for the evening. Once I was ready I went down to the bar to see if my junk computer could pick up the WiFi signal from there as I was having no luck from our balcony. (I would like to point out that it was no fault of the Luna Blue signal as nobody else was having any trouble.) As it turned out the only place I could get a good signal was on the front desk, so tried to keep my computer time to a minimum. After a quick email home from the desk I went over to the bar to go through some pictures. I was there a couple of minutes when I here, "hey, thrushjockey how's it going" When I looked across the bar there was Mikey, Erica, and Playa Del Sol. I had not yet met Erica or PDS and I did not recognize Mikey as I had never seen him with hair. It was great to run into Mikey like that as he was the first forum member we ever met, that was years before at Maya Bric.
