Mikey & Erica's March 08 Playa Trip

Rise and Shine! We woke up on Wednesday morning with our bags packed and eager to start our vacation to Playa. We arrive at DFW and see Sunbaby and her friends have already checked in and are as ready as we are to board the plane and head to paradise. I sailed through the security checkpoint…….Mikey was tagged SSSS so we spent another 15 minutes waiting while his bags were checked.

The flight to Cancun was enjoyable (there were only 40 or so passengers on the plane so we had room to sprawl and sip on our Jack and Cokes….sailed through immigration without a problem. No lines! Not another soul there. Yippeee! Hop into our shuttle van and roll down 307 toward Playa while visions of all of the fabulous food I will soon consume run through my head.

Check in at Pension San Juan Hotel went smooth as butter and before we knew it……Banzoomba and MsRubio stop in to say hello. So nice to finally meet them.

After checking in at the hotel we decided to head on over to La Ranita to meet up with the group who was already in full swing. I think we got there around 9:30 or 10:00 that night. Onward to the Beer Bucket to meet Ron and help Donna celebrate her birthday by tossing back a couple of shots of tequila and a round of beer.

We hadn’t eaten anything but Sun Chips at this point so we headed over to Cha Cha Cha’s for dinner……Sushi and Oysters. Fabulous dinner!

We rounded out the night by going to Kixten on 5th. We closed the place which was rather obvious by how horrible we both felt the next morning.

We declared Thursday……a day of rest. We headed to Tropical for some breakfast and then onto Zenzi on the beach to meet Donna and her friends. I really like Zenzi…….not crazy busy…..easy to find a lounger……..great service…….cool music and awesome food! We ordered Sushi again……yummy…….and sat back and enjoyed the afternoon

Thanks for posting pics of the hotel. It sure was a sweet place. Now I can let Slim see where we stayed. Keep it coming!

What Hotel? There is no Hotel.....The rooms are a million dollars a nite......

I think the room we had was $69 a nite......The rooms that face fifth are a little noisy becasue of all the traffic and the club thats right across from the hotel......The ones on the inside of the hotel are nice and quite......

Actually they are not that quiet. Brenda's room and our room got all the noise from Bourbon street. Not so bad if you close the bathroom window and the door, and turn up the A/C.

Well that sux.....Guess we will have to look for a new place to stay.........

We had a shared balcony with a kitchen. The rooms were nice but it was noisy. Usually around 3 to 4 in the morning.

I packed earplugs.

We enjoyed getting together with Donna...........was a great day at the beach!

We did have a private balcony that overlooked fifth.....But it was just big enough for a couple of chairs.....We actually brought the chairs in and used them to put the laptop on and the other chair to sit in while we were on the puter........The larger balcony was shared and had a nice kitchen that everyone could use with a fridge a couple of toasters an oven/stove purified water cooler a sink........They also had dishes, knives, forks, pots and pans so you could cook If you wanted.......Most of the time it was used for making coffee.....Even though we did toast up some danish that we got at Wal Mart...Wal Marts bakery is just incredible........

Thursday continued:

We headed back to the hotel room to take a nap and chill for a bit.

I hate to say it……BUT……after the nap I decided to head out on 5th to check things out while Mikey worked a bit………and came back with this to eat…….translation…….Hangover food. I’m embarrassed to admit we had this but I’ll redeem myself later by showing photos of the fabulous cuisine we ate the remaining days of our trip..

We later joined Donna and friends for dinner at Sush Tl'aan........we loved this place! Located on 5th between 28th and 30th.....next to Starbucks.

Friday:

We decided to rent a Jeep and head to Punta Allen.

Note to self: Apply sunscreen before taking a 2 plus hour drive with the top off of the jeep.

It was a fantastic trip and the road was just fine with the exception of us getting stuck in the sand in one of the parking areas along the way. I was mildly freaked out but with a few boards, blocks and the help of a nice family riding on a scooter (Mikey flagged them down on the road) we got out just fine. I didn’t take any photos of this but the memory will be forever ingrained in my brain.
