Hi all – remember more specific details about our trip are found earlier in this trip report. These sections have additional information about the days from the video perspective.

Where did all the beach go? From the time we arrived on 3-20 until 3-28, Sandos lost at least 20 feet of beach in front of their north building. I recall walking along the beach at dawn on 3-21 almost tripping on this funny canvas bag thing sticking out of the sand. It turned out to be the intake valve of one of he giant sandbag whales that you see in the video at the top of the beach.

We had no idea that the Sandos had planted so many of these whales so close to their palapas, and then covered them with tons of sand to extend the beach out to sea. These were stacked whales – one on top of the other and they made an interesting climb down as we entered the water this day. The whale out in the water in the video was still fun to play on, as was the beach and water itself.

The cruise ship in the distance south towards the center of Playa was the same ship we saw the next day when we went downtown (see the pics on the TR). As usual, the beach and atmosphere was great, service exceptional and hard to beat this or any other day in tropical paradise.

Find your palapa, hunker down in lounger and let the relaxation wash over you like a warm, Caribbean wave….

This was the most awesome trip report I have ever read! I am an avid reader of Trip Advisor, and it has never failed me in choosing a resort . . . your report has topped that ten times, and I definitely feel comfortable now having chosen to stay at the Sandos July 17-20 . . .

OMG this was the single best read in awhile... big pat on the back and thanks for the effort/creativity/wit you put into this.

Myself and 5 girlfriends are heading this resort in November and with all your info I feel so prepared.

Hey Kurls - thanks for the compliment! We really enjoyed our time & know you will too. Wanted the TR to entertain (not sure that happened) and inform (hope that did). Let us all know how things went with a TR of your own! Thanks!
